Marlene's Kaleidoscope Legacy STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM
The Marlene's Kaleidoscope scholarship program is available to assist residents of the Greater Kansas City area impacted by Lupus. Anyone wants to pursue higher-level education, which includes a two-year or four-year college or a vocational or technical institution. Candidates must be directly/indirectly affected by Lupus, which impedes their ability to pursue a higher academic education/technical or vocational career. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
MARLENE’S KALEIDOSCOPE candidates must meet all criteria, including an incapability to further their education without financial assistance. The MKLUPUS Scholarship Award's eligibility is for $1000 a year to be paid directly to a qualified institution. In addition, the chosen candidate must carry a minimum 2.5 GPA to maintain eligibility for each concurrent semester for the duration of the scholarship program.
Scholarship recipients are asked to volunteer their time during the school year they have been funded. Volunteer requirements must be one or more of the following:
Volunteer Hours for a minimum of 10 hours per semester. Volunteer responsibilities may include office work, different committees, volunteering at a fundraising event, health fair coverage, brochure/flyer delivery, and walk team raising (at minimum) $200.

Marlene’s Kaleidoscope Scholarship Award Eligibility:
Must be a high school senior or graduate who plans to enroll in undergraduate study at an accredited vocational-technical school or a two-year or four-year college for the entire academic year or duration of vocational study. Must be in good academic standing with a previous academic institution,
OR
Must be in good standing with your current employer, seeking undergraduate/graduate study at an accredited vocational or technical school, or two- or four-year college for the upcoming academic year. Must either be a diagnosed Lupus patient. Treating physician verification required OR Must be financially dependent on a parent/caregiver diagnosed Lupus patient - Treating physician verification of Lupus diagnosis for the needed financial caregiver. Other documents may be requests to prove financial hardship.
Must show proof of residence in the State of Missouri and Kansas, as we serve Greater Kansas City Lupus community.
Must fill out the application in its entirety. Any overlooked questions will result in a non-review of the application.
Must write a 500-word thesis based on attached parameters for review by the MARLENE’S KALEIDOSCOPE Scholarship Award committee

Marlene’s Kaleidoscope Awards
If selected as a recipient, the candidate will be rewarded up to $1000 if attending a two- or four-year program, a vocational or technical school. Awards are for the cost of tuition and books only. Annual awards are not renewable. Awards will cease if a GPA of 2.5 is not maintained during each consecutive semester of study.

Transcript Information
Any pertinent SEALED transcripts/grades may be needed if the candidate is eligible for the scholarship. MARLENE’S KALEIDOSCOPE will cover any/all fees and costs for SEALED transcripts if the candidate is eligible for a scholarship.

- Students currently or previously enrolled in college or vocational-technical school include all college or vo-tech transcripts of grades from each school attended. - High school seniors and students who have completed less than one full quarter or semester of postsecondary education include a high school transcript of grades.
