Treasurer and Board Member

Organization: Marlene’s Kaleidoscope

 

Position: Treasurer and Board Member

 

Marlene’s Kaleidoscope Organization is actively seeking individuals for the positions of Treasurer and additional Board Members. Whether you have a background in finance, are personally affected by lupus or an autoimmune disease in your family, or simply have a passion for making a positive impact on people's lives, we encourage you to explore this opportunity and consider joining our board!

 

Expectations of Board Members:

As the highest leadership body of the organization, the Board of Directors plays a crucial role in fulfilling its fiduciary duties. Key responsibilities include:

 

- Determining the mission and purposes of the organization

- Selecting and evaluating the performance of the CEO/executive director

- Strategic and organizational planning

- Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management

- Fundraising and resource development

- Approving and monitoring Marlene’s Kaleidoscope’s programs and services

- Enhancing Marlene’s Kaleidoscope’s public image

- Assessing the board's own performance as the governing body of Marlene’s Kaleidoscope

 

Expectations of Individual Board Members: Each board member is expected to:

 

- Understand the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs

- Thoroughly review and comprehend the organization’s financial statements

- Actively advocate and serve as ambassadors for the organization, engaging in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships

- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to advance the organization’s mission collectively

- Make a meaningful personal financial donation, aiming to raise or donate at least $500

- Identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and influence public policy

- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings (minimum of 75% attendance)

- Fully participate in one or more committees

- Attend major fundraising events, including the Gala

Administrative and
Social Media Coordinator

Job Title: Administrative
 

Organization: Marlene’s Kaleidoscope - Dedicated to Lupus Awareness and Support

Location: Greater Kansas City

Position Type: Part-time (20 hours per month)

Job Summary: 

 

The Administrative and Social Media Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our small lupus nonprofit organization. This position is responsible for administrative tasks, donor communication, and managing our social media presence to increase awareness and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties:

1. Office Management: Maintain an organized and efficient office environment, handling day-to-day administrative tasks.

2. Database Management: Update and manage donor and supporter databases.

3. Correspondence: Respond to emails and inquiries promptly, maintaining a positive and professional image for the organization.

4. Meeting Coordination: Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings, both internal and external.

Social Media Management: 

1. Content Creation: Develop engaging and informative content related to lupus awareness, research, and support for various social media platforms.

2. Posting Schedule: Create and implement a consistent posting schedule to maintain an active online presence.

3. Community Engagement: Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages, and engage with our community to build relationships.

4. Campaigns: Plan and execute social media campaigns to promote events, fundraisers, and awareness initiatives.

Fundraising Support:

1. Donor Communication: Assist in communicating with donors, expressing gratitude, and providing updates on the impact of their contributions.

2. Event Support: Collaborate with the team to support fundraising events, both online and offline.

Qualifications:

1. Experience: Previous experience in nonprofit administration and social media management is preferred.

2. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. 

3. Software: Microsoft platform, Google Platform

4. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

5. Social Media Proficiency: Familiarity with major social media platforms and experience in crafting engaging content.

6. Passion for the Cause: A genuine interest in lupus awareness and support.

Education: A degree in a relevant field (communications, marketing, nonprofit management) is preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
